Hunting Fishing Camping in the Great Outdoors

Hunting, Fishing, Camping

Hunting, fishing, and camping every day. I know it sounds like the country song, but these are some of my favorite things to do and all three provide something for my family. Hunting was something my dad and I always did together and continue to do.  Fishing with my dad and grandpa is one of my earliest memories. Camping is something that my family loves to do and try to go a couple times a year. These three activities can provide food and family bonding time.

Hunting

I started hunting with my dad at an early age and some of my earliest memories are of elk hunting and deer hunting.  We would spend time glassing from hills looking for the deer or sitting in the forest listening for elk and going after them. I like to hunt because of the challenge and the ability to provide some of the most nutrient dense food for my family. My favorite hunts now are archery elk hunting. Elk hunting with a bow is one of the hardest things possible and the most rewarding.  One elk can feed my family for a year or more.

Fishing

Fishing is one of the earliest memories that I have. We used to live in Globe and my grandpa had a boat and we would go fishing Friday afternoon and camp on the boat and come home Saturday evening. Most of the fishing we did was for fun, but we would always bring home fish to eat.  We would fish for bass and crappie.  In the summertime when we go camping, we fish for trout in the white mountains. Now we go bass fishing in Mexico, and it is some of the best fishing in the world both for volume and size. Fishing is one of my favorite hobbies and it helps me relax and think thing out.

Camping

Camping is another thing we to do be outside and in nature.  In my family we have always gone camping and I am trying to do that with my wife and new baby. Camping is a way we can bond as a family and get away from regular life for a little bit. We go camping up the white mountains close to Alpine. We love this area, and we do a lot there. There is fishing and water activities, we can explore the river and scout for elk because that is where we hunt.  We have tent camped and taken travel trailers. We are trying to figure out what works the best for us and more to come on that.  There will be more articles on hunting, fishing, and camping as they come up.
