Camping is one of my family’s favorite things to do. We love spending time in the mountains and hanging out with friends and family. There are some essential items that I have found to make it a better experience. The first essential item is somewhere to sleep. This can be a tent or a trailer or even a vehicle. The second essential item would be something to sleep on. This can be a sleeping pad, air mattress or even the ground which I do not recommend. The third essential item would be something to cook on.
First Essential
The first essential item that I take camping is somewhere to sleep and get out of the elements. For this we have chosen a tent. We have camped in trailers and tents and they both have their pros and cons, but we have settled on a tent. We use a 10×10 canopy shade and a tent that attaches to it. We picked this because of the space that there is. We can stand straight up and have plenty of head room and then there is space for the dogs. When we go camping there is a good chance that it is going to rain, and we need somewhere to go to get out of it and this canopy and tent gives us the space to do that. We can put the bedding to the side and play games in there.
Second Essential
The second essential is something to sleep on. There is nothing better than getting into a comfortable bed in the mountains. We have used cots and air mattresses on the ground, and they all work but the best thing is a Coleman camping cot. This cot is an inflatable air mattress on a platform. The bed comes in a queen or a twin and has an air pump. The set up is very easy and the bed is comfortable to sleep on.
Third Essential
The third essential item would be something to cook on. When we camp sometimes there is a red flag warning which means you can’t have a fire. Taking away your ability to cook anything. I like to use the Camp Chef Outdoorsman 14-inch two burner camp stove. The cooker is easy to use and hooks up to a 5 lb. propane tank. I can add a flat top griddle the top of it, and I can cook anything that I want on it. It has a built-in wind shield and collapses down to fit in a carry bag. This cooker makes cooking meals in the mountains easy and enjoyable
Conclusion
These are just some of the essential items that I use when my family goes camping. Everyone is different and has their own way of doing things, but these three items are some of my essential items. I like using the canopy and attachable tent to sleep in and get out of the elements for its head room and space inside. The second essential item is the sleeping cot. I like getting into a comfortable bed and this cot checks that box. The third essential item is the Camp Chef cook stove. We like to have good food and this cook stove allows us to cook whatever we want. This list doesn’t cover everything, but it does cover some essential items.
